regional director for Europe , the Middle Powermax SYNC . East , India and Africa . “ We know that our customers are facing extraordinary challenges from the combination of inflation , economic uncertainty from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and labour shortages . The products and solutions that we bring to this year ’ s show are designed to help customers tackle those challenges .”
Hypertherm Associates ’ OMAX technology brand exhibited its waterjet systems in Hall 12 at the show . Show visitors could see the OptiMAX , dubbed by Hypertherm as “ the world ’ s most accurate waterjet ”, along with the ProtoMAX , a compact , self-contained cutting system suitable for prototyping and low-volume cutting . OMAX will also feature its highly intuitive IntelliMAX software .
The company ’ s Hypertherm technology brand highlighted its plasma offerings in Hall 13 at EuroBLECH . Show visitors watched the Powermax SYNC plasma cutting systems in action for the first time at a European show . This innovative series of plasma systems features built-in intelligence and a single-piece consumable cartridge to automate plasma cutting .
In addition , Hypertherm showcased its X-Definition plasma and a new HPR cartridge for HPRXD plasma systems , a change designed to simplify plasma cutting and help manufacturers to reduce their labour and training costs .
The Hypertherm booth also featured demonstrations of ProNest and Robotmaster , both of which are part of the Hypertherm Associates Software Group . ProNest CAD / CAM nesting software enables seamless integration with SureCut technology that applies optimised parameters to simplify cutting and reduces the need for operator intervention . Robotmaster software helps manufacturers to maximize their robot ’ s productivity with easy and efficient robot programming for a variety of applications . With
embedded plasma and robotic functionality , Robotmaster enables automated welding , reducing skilled labour requirements .
‘ Idea to part ’ value stream
“ We are delighted to be showing new products like the new HPR cartridge and the Powermax SYNC systems at EuroBLECH . However , we are really focused on solving problems for our customers and keeping them productive and profitable . For example , a 2 % incremental improvement in their manufacturing process could help them drive down the total cost of ownership . So , it ’ s about using our experience to provide solutions to our customer ’ s challenges ,” Marco Mostert told ISMR .
Hypertherm ’ s roots are in continuous improvement and innovation , starting in the 1960s with its development of plasma cutting equipment .
“ The future is the entire idea-to-part value stream so rather than thinking of ourselves as a product company , we define ourselves in terms of outcomes . Manufacturers in the fabrication industry are very practical . The core fundamental issues that fabricators face are skilled labour shortages , material shortages , cost increases and supply disruptions , so really the ‘ idea to part ’ value stream is about solving real and current problems for them ,” explained Evan A . Smith , President and CEO , Hypertherm Associates .
“ So , in a very practical sense , the functionality of our machines really takes the
Hypertherm ’ s Robotmaster software .

SmartSYNC torches for Powermax SYNC plasma systems

Hypertherm Associates has introduced four new SmartSYNC ® torches for Hypertherm Powermax SYNC ® plasma systems . The torches are available in two different lengths — 0.6m ( 2 ®) and 1.2 m ( 4 ®)— with two different torch head angles ( 45 and 90 degrees ).
Like other SmartSYNC torches , these new torches automatically set the correct amperage , air pressure and operating mode upon installation of the consumable cartridge and allow the operator to change the cartridge without returning to the power supply . The torches also come with Hypertherm ’ s FastConnect™ feature to make switching between torches fast and easy .
Compared to the firstgeneration Duramax ® Hyamp long torch , the
SmartSYNC ® torches . new SmartSYNC long torches are lighter , requiring 45 per cent less lifting force . They are even more robust and manufactured with a new flexible lead for improved ergonomics and manoeuvrability .
“ Customers in a wide variety of industries have adopted the long torch since its introduction in 2014 ,” said Jeff Hluchyj , a Powermax product manager . “ These customers tell us they can get a lot more work done , especially if they were using an oxyfuel torch before . They also like the torch ’ s ergonomic design and ability to stand up straight when cutting . Since operators do not need to bend over while using the long torch , they don ’ t get tired as easily and can cut for longer .”
Hypertherm long torches are used for a wide variety of jobs including cutting coupons at steel mills and risers and runners at foundries ; decommissioning or demolishing ships and nuclear facilities ; scrapping metal for recycling and removing skeletons from cutting tables .
