XLC leveller
Automatic Feed Company ( AFCO ) has received an order for an ‘ eXtra-large ’ capacity ( XLC ) leveller from a large southern Ontario service centre and coil processor serving automotive markets . Capable of handling coil widths of 2150mm ( 84 ”), the leveller will be integrated with customer-owned equipment in the summer of 2023 .
Designed to accommodate a variety of material strengths and thicknesses using different cassettes , this XLC leveller will include two cassettes , each with different work roll diameters . The AFCO XLC can process a broad range of materials including surface-critical steel and aluminium , HSS , AHSS and UHSS .

“ This system comes with an auto dualcassette change table , which holds up to two cassettes for change-out in less than four minutes . An independent cassette-style pinch roll is located at the exit end of the leveller . The pinch roll unit consists of two full-width chromed rolls in a modular assembly for rapid and easy cassette replacement ,” said AFCO .

leveller entry and exit . It is designed for a line running at a maximum speed of up to 90mpm . Our leveller calculator is also included , assisting operators in making the necessary leveller setting changes based on coil correction needed , helping to speed set-up and improved quality ,” it added .
The project scope also includes project management ; installation supervision ; customer plant start-up ( commissioning ); launch / production support and operator and maintenance training . This is the third XLC leveller order that Automatic Feed has received from this company .

Shorter double folder
Thalmann , part of the CIDAN Group , has been a pioneer in the development and manufacturing of long folding machines since 1960 . It has now developed a shorter Thalmann TD200 3.2 metre and TD150 4.0- metre double folder for users that need a small footprint and more automation for the forming of metal trim . This new innovation is designed to be smooth , fast and quiet , Thalmann told ISMR .
“ The new double folder is based on our unique kinetic control shaft technology , ensuring a high level of performance and synchronous force distribution over the entire length of the machine . This means faster and smoother folding processes , without any loss of folding precision , that are guaranteed by the exclusive dynamic folding technology ( DFT ),” the folding specialist explained .
The double folder features a narrow folding blade for tight Z bends and a 10mm carrier blade for maximum capacity of the machine . A 3-degree upper beam means more free space and a curved lower beam is for deep F and J channels . The folder boasts a 1250mm back gauge and 700mm table extender . It can be used to form taper parts
and automation can be added to the machine i . e . side loaders , part flippers and unloaders . n

New Titanium 230 AC / DC TIG welder
Following the successful launch of the Titanium AC / DC TIG welder , a sister product has now been launched by GYS , the singlephase Titanium 230 AC / DC . Intelligent and connected , it offers precise arc control and industrial welding performance of up to 230A ( 16A fuse ) using integrated power factor correction . It also has a duty cycle of 60 % at plus or minus 40 degrees Celsius and is equipped with a degauss feature to demagnetise metal parts .

Equipped with a 5-inch colour interface , which is intuitive , multilingual and customisable , users can choose from three interface options : Easy , Expert and Advanced . Offering full connectivity , it measures energy usage and provides traceability of welding data . It is also connectable for use with robots via an optional kit . The user mode includes the option to share the product with several different operators . Back-up of user jobs as well as machine configuration are both possible via a USB key , as are new and revised welding synergies and software updates .
A free tool for interface customisation is available online . Users can customise the machine by saving their welding settings and personal preferences . This is beneficial when shift workers use the same machine . Hire and rental companies can also customise the machine ’ s settings for each customer to restrict access to certain modes and features . n
