PRODUCT REVIEWS
A new 24kW laser cuts components up to three times faster . the application , the upgraded TruLaser 5000 can handle up to 80 per cent more sheets of metal per hour .
“ Increased laser power means that companies can slash processing times while also improving the quality of processed parts . With its patented cutting unit , automated functions and dynamic performance , this technology significantly boosts productivity ,” said TRUMPF product manager , Patrick Schüle .
With double the laser power , the new machine can cut parts significantly faster . In addition , the more powerful TruLaser 5000 can cut mild steel with a sheet thickness of up to 20mm using nitrogen as the cutting gas . This eliminates the need for reworking that arises when oxygen is used .
Sustainable solutions
As well as unveiling its digital pay-per-part business model for the TruLaser Center 7030 at EuroBLECH ( reported in our September issue ), TRUMPF showcased a range of solutions to make sheet-metal fabrication more sustainable at this year ’ s EuroBLECH trade fair in Hanover , Germany . It aims to help its customers make their factories more competitive and eco-friendly .
“ Our customers have seen huge increases in the cost of production due to higher energy prices . Our technologies reduce the use of energy-intensive materials and are less powerhungry overall . By offering more sustainable and lower-carbon methods of sheet-metal fabrication , we can help companies fight more effectively against climate change and slash the cost of materials and manufacturing ,” said Stephan Mayer , Chief Executive Officer Machine Tools , TRUMPF .
The solutions at EuroBLECH included its new ‘ Eco Cooler ’ system , developed in partnership with Efficient Energy , that controls the temperature of laser-cutting machines using pure water instead of chemical refrigerants . The new solution will be available for TRUMPF laser-cutting machines from the 1000 to 5000 series .
“ This novel cooling solution uses 80 percent less energy than conventional systems and is 100 per cent non-polluting ,” TRUMPF told ISMR .
24kW laser cutting
At this year ’ s EuroBLECH , TRUMPF unveiled the upgraded TruLaser 5000 series fitted with a laser providing twice the power that was formerly standard . With an output of 24kW , the new laser – a TruDisk 24001 – can process sheet-metal parts up to three times more quickly . Depending on the material and
TruBend 1000
TRUMPF also launched a new , entry-level press brake for companies entering the metal-bending market . Featuring the new Right Angle ( RA ) control system , the TruBend 1000 is easy to program , has a user-friendly interface and comes with TRUMPF ’ s tech data for metal bending . The TruBend 1000 Classic is suitable for companies manufacturing simple and semi-complex parts in medium batch sizes . The initial version weighs 225 metric tons and has a bending length of four metres .
“ The machines are every bit as robust and reliable as our high-end models but come with a much lower price tag . We will now be providing even more solutions to help companies grow and manufacture competitively ,” said Stephan Mayer , chief executive officer for machine tools at TRUMPF .
The laser ’ s focusing optics are freely programmable with TRUMPF ’ s BrightLine Scan technology .
