Controlled stamping

Founded in 1917 , AIDA is a leading global manufacturer of mechanical and servo presses for sheet metal forming , automation equipment and complete metalforming systems .
“ AIDA was the first company in the world to develop and market direct-drive servo presses ( DSF ® - Direct Servo Former , our proprietary servo technology ), installing , to date , thousands of units worldwide ,” it told ISMR .
AIDA presses are used to produce a wide range of items including automotive chassis and components ; electric motor laminations ; application parts and structural elements ; electrical and electronic components ; bi-polar plates and battery cases . The company , which continues to evolve and grow , now boasts production facilities in Asia , Europe and North America , with a global presence in more than 60 countries .
Electric mobility
The production of high-precision motor cores is at the basis of the transition to electric mobility . AIDA ’ s high-speed presses are used for forming the motor cores of electric vehicles .
“ Our MSP presses allow users to produce high-precision and high value-added motors
AIDA MSP series press . such as EV motors , HEV motors and energy-efficient , home appliances motors . The dynamic accuracy of this series of presses is significantly improved thanks to the compact design and multiple suspension points architecture ,” AIDA explained .
“ Balance between high rigidity and wide bed area is brought to a higher level using the latest technologies . The areas that transmit the press forming loads , such as the connecting rod bearings and the crankshaft bearings , are all made from special metals selected to avoid heat deformations . Ultra-precision dies that require a large bed area are necessary for the production of high-efficiency motors , such as motors for hybrid cars or for energy saving ,” it added .

Responding to these needs , AIDA applied innovative technologies to achieve increased precision with its MSP Series High Speed Stamping Presses , which are also particularly suitable for the production of parts with thicknesses of less than 0.20mm .
Direct Servo Former ( DSF ) technology
Bi-polar plates are the core component of PEM fuel cells . They control not only hydrogen and air supply but also the emission of water vapour , along with heat and electrical energy . The production of bi-polar plates requires high-precision forming presses .
Equipped with an innovative nine-point support design , a highly rigid ring frame , zero-clearance slide gibs and the freely programmable servo motion of the AIDA DSF ® – Direct Servo Former technology , AIDA DSF-U presses are designed for high manufacturing performances . The slide does not move laterally during forming operations , enabling versatile forming operations . Combined with the single crank design , DSF-U presses enable transfer forming , progressive forming and multi-stage cold forging .
“ The overall height has been reduced by 30 % by eliminating the connecting rods that
