Schröder Group upgrades MAKU folder

Hans Schröder Maschinenbau has equipped its MAKU motorised folding machine with a new safety laser system directly on the bending line— the folder clamps the sheet metal much faster before folding. A new clamping beam option also enables the use of goat foot tools for box production.
“ Thanks to the new laser safety concept, the MAKU clamps a sheet almost twice as fast as a conventional folding machine. The light barrier eliminates the need for the pre-stop and the second operation of the foot switch, and the clamping beam lowers at full speed of 65mm / s. If the safety function is triggered( for example, because the hand gets too close to the danger zone), the machine automatically switches to the classic safety mode with pre-stop and the extra slow closing at 10mm / s,” outlined the manufacturer.
The new clamping beam package enables the manufacturing of box-shaped workpieces. Instead of the permanently bolted single-piece tinsmith’ s or sharpnose blade, a tool clamping system accommodates segmented goat’ s foot tools at any position. To make room for this, the

zero point of the clamping beam drive is offset by 130mm in a few simple steps. In this case, the laser safety system is switched off using the“ box-folding” function, as a workpiece bent up at the side would otherwise trigger it.
“ The robust MAKU for plumbing and repair shops is available in the versions 2500 × 2.0 / 3200 × 1.5( working length × sheet thickness in mm). This folding machine has a popular two-axis back gauge for automatic tapered bending. In addition to simple precision production of plug-in profiles, the machine also offers a function for step-by-step radius bending. Both functions are available with the standard Classic Bend control and the POS2000 Professional graphical control,” concluded Hans Schröder Maschinenbau.
The Schröder Group consists of Hans Schröder Maschinenbau GmbH, SCHRÖDER- FASTI Technologie GmbH and SMU GmbH. Founded in 1949, Hans Schröder Maschinenbau GmbH specialises in the development of modern machine concepts for bending and cutting sheet metal. n

Flexible fibre laser cutting strategies

The new Cross Series range of fibre lasercutting machines from Nukon Lasers UK will be on display at MACH in Birmingham( UK) from 20-24 April 2026( stand 20-550). The sister company of tube bending machinery manufacturer, Unison Ltd, Nukon Lasers UK offers European-built fibre laser machines and press brakes.
“ Designed with a strong focus on productivity, Nukon Cross machines offer powerful 2D flat sheet metal cutting capability and can be specified with bed sizes of 3m x 1.5m, 4m x 2m or 6m x 2m. Power options range from 2kW up to 30kW for highly challenging laser-cutting applications,” said the company.
Nukon also offers various optional features to enable customisation of lasercutting models. Depending upon the model, operators can choose from nLIGHT fibre lasers or the Raycus range of robust fibre lasers. Advanced Lantek Expert CAD / CAM nesting software can also be specified with each Nukon Cross machine, as can CutLine programmable beam-shaping technology for nLIGHT models.
“ Nukon Plus Cut technology is offered on machines with resonators above 12kW. Developed for the cutting of thicker materials, Plus Cut is designed for delivery of fast, stable clean cuts on mild steel of 20mm thick and above. Other options include automatic nozzle cleaning, cut detection, piercing
