FOCUS ON SURFACE FINISHING

Strong collaboration process
The SER1200 XL Multibrush , with Arbèl ’ s input , combines “ all possible processing operations for sheet-metal parts ” ( such as deburring ; grinding ; rounding ; Radius 2mm ; oxide layer removal and line finishing ) with directionless grinding .
“ All of these processes are automated : the five workstations are software-controlled , making the machine results almost independent of the operator ,” Q-Fin told ISMR .
Arbèl already offered non-directional finishing of sheet-metal parts but according to Barry Noordman , director at Arbèl , there was a lot of manual labour involved in this process . “ It was time-consuming and no longer sufficient , given the increasing demand ,” he confirmed .
The time had come for an automated alternative , decided Noordman , who did the necessary preliminary research himself before contacting Q-Fin at the end of 2021 . At that time , Q-Fin could not offer him a concrete solution . However , partly due to such a concrete request , Q-Fin started working on it . Noordman looks back positively on that process ……
“ Q-Fin has a lot of finishing knowledge and actively involved us in the development of the machine . We offered our suggestions and made our wishes clear during the design process ,” he explained .
These requirements were successfully met by the final machine , as demonstrated by Arbèl ’ s investment in the first unit of the SER1200 Multibrush .
An international debut
The SER1200 XL Multibrush was successfully introduced at the EuroBLECH exhibition in Hanover , Germany , in October last year .
Q-Fin has a lot of finishing knowledge and actively involved us in the development of the machine . We can now choose a directionless or line grain finish for our products
Anton Bax , director of Q-Fin Quality Finishing Machines , commented “‘ All possible finishes are pre-programmed with their own parameters ; the machine calibrates itself ” ( image : Link magazine ).
The first SER1200 Multibrush machine has been operational at Arbèl ’ s factory in Valkenswaard , The Netherlands , since November 2022 . The second SER1200 Multibrush machine will be installed shortly .

Two further SER1200 machines have also been sold in Germany .
Since its creation in 2013 , Q-Fin has focused on the development , production and sales of machines for deburring , edge rounding and finishing of sheet-metal parts . The company , which now has customers all over the world , also builds dust extraction machines to combine with its finishing machines . It has already picked up several awards including the surface-finishing technology prize at EuroBLECH 2018 in Hanover and , in 2019 , a Blechexpo award for its F200 XL small parts machine . Q-Fin has set itself the task of introducing at least two technology innovations every year .
“ Innovation is an indispensable pillar and continuous development is what the customer expects from Q-Fin . So , we went to work on that growing need for a directionless finish , and also searched for a solution to the growing demand for a Radius 2mm edge rounding on parts up to 1200mm wide . Add to that the increasing customer desire to further automate the finishing process , and we believe that the all-in-one SER1200 XL Multibrush meets all three needs ,” commented Anton Bax , director of Q-Fin Quality Finishing Machines .
