BI-MU spotlights seven technology areas
The 35. BI MU trade show will take place in Milan, Italy, from 13-16 October 2026. The international biennial exhibition is dedicated to metal forming and metal cutting machine tools, robots, automation, digital and additive manufacturing, auxiliary and enabling technologies. ISMR is an international media partner.
“ The exhibition will be set up in Halls 22 and 24 of the fieramilano Rho Exhibition Centre, with the option of extending into Hall 13 which is just opposite the two halls currently in use,” said the show organiser.
Promoted by UCIMU and organised by EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE, 35. BI-MU will feature seven technological areas of interest for visitors.
■ RobotHeart – Robotics & Artificial Intelligence: Advanced solutions for automation, components, systems and artificial intelligence.
■ AMItaly – Additive Technologies: A complete overview of the additive manufacturing supply chain.
■ BI-MU Digital – Digital Manufacturing & Adaptive Systems: Digital solutions for the smart factory.
■ Metrology and Testing – Control, Quality & Certification: Measuring instruments, non-destructive testing and artificial vision systems.
■ Power4Machines – Mechatronics & Power Transmission: Components for mechanical, electrical and pneumatic power transmission.
■ Heat and Surface Treatments: Equipment and systems to enhance material performance.
■ Tool Tech – Tools & Precision: Advanced tools for efficient, precision production.
■ Revamping & Retrofitting: Designed to meet the needs of the“ second life” market.
New features will include panel and roundtable discussions on 15 October 2026 dedicated to two sectors with interesting growth potential and particularly dynamic demand:‘ Aerospace & Defence’ and‘ Energy’.
For young people, the project dedicated to Education & Skills will be back with the
ROBOTGAMES contest as its flagship event. This is promoted by the UCIMU Academy and organised by EFIM for highschool students. On 15 October 2026, the 12 finalist teams, representing 11 school institutes from across Italy, will compete by presenting innovative robotic automation projects for industrial applications.
For students of Higher Technical Institutes( ITS Academies), AITA-Italian Association of Additive Technologies and EFIM are promoting the Additive Future Lab. This new national contest introduces young talent to additive manufacturing technologies. The award ceremony will take place in the AMITALY zone on 16 October 2026.
A new initiative will also be the BI-MU FUTURTECH AWARDS, celebrating innovative solutions in manufacturing featured at the exhibition. The contest is open to exhibitors who can compete in three categories: mechanical innovation, digitalisation and sustainability. n
