Deburring of flame-cut parts and heavy burrs
With the EdgeBreaker ® 4000 NEXT, ARKU presented the second generation of its solution for burned parts with large burrs and slag. It rounds edges and deburrs parts on both sides in a single pass. Even oxyfuel or plasma cut parts with heavy burrs can be processed.
“ Thanks to its high-performance grinding drum, the EdgeBreaker ® 4000 NEXT applies maximum force directly to the edge and processes parts of up to 125mm thick. At the same time, its intelligent Wizard system ensures a high level of user convenience and easy operation in everyday production. Visitors experienced live how burned parts were transformed into market-ready components with clean, reproducible edges,” added ARKU.
Levelling and laser cutting from coil
ARKU also showcased its full range of precision levelling machines, from the compact EcoMaster ® for smaller parts to the high-performance FlatMaster ®. The FlatMaster ® series of precision levellers can process flame cut parts of up to 60mm thick.
Coil levelling and processing also played an important role during the InfoDays. Together with the integrated TruLaser 8000 from TRUMPF, ARKU presented the ARKU Coil Laser System live, demonstrating how modern coil processing works today.
“ This technology is changing the way that sheet metal parts are manufactured.
Instead of processing individual sheets, the material runs continuously through the system as an endless strip. The laser cuts without interruption, eliminating downtime caused by sheet changes. This creates major advantages in material utilisation: parts can be nested far more flexibly, reducing scrap by up to 30 per cent in real-world applications. At the same time, productivity increases significantly,” said ARKU.
“ The Coil-Laser technology is especially effective for medium production runs. New contours or modified parts can be implemented immediately— without tool changes and without set-up times,” it added.
ARKU’ s InfoDays showcased individual machines as well as complete process chains— from coil to the finished part, from deburring to autonomous part handling.

Double sheet detection
Manufacturers of formed metal parts have long faced a persistent production challenge: reliably detecting double sheets before they reach the press. When two sheets adhere together unnoticed, the result can be damaged tooling, costly downtime and wasted material.
To address this issue, Contrinex has expanded its Smart Double-Sheet Sensor portfolio with a new version that allows direct configuration via any IO-Link Master, complementing the existing PocketCodr ® configuration solution. This, said Contrinex, means that manufacturers can benefit from greater flexibility in sensor configuration. Non-contact operation extends sensor life by avoiding wear from repeated impacts with the workpiece
“ A key benefit of our solution is its simple and versatile configuration process, allowing users to choose the method that best fits their production environment,” explained the company.
The existing configuration method uses the PocketCodr ® configurator with a dedicated mobile app. Technicians connect the sensor, enter the sheet material and thickness, and configure switching points in minutes with no programming required. This approach remains suitable for applications where the same material is processed consistently and a quick, straightforward set-up is preferred.
“ The new sensor version introduces direct parameterisation via any IO-Link Master. This provides greater flexibility for automated production lines where different materials may be processed on the same system. Operators can easily adjust detection parameters— for example, when switching between steel and aluminium sheets— without replacing or manually reconfiguring the sensor,” it said.
The sensors are designed to withstand challenges such as contaminants and harsh, extreme conditions. The sensors feature Full- Inox housings made from a single piece of V2A( AISI 304) stainless steel for durability and reliability. New ActivStone ® coated versions are also available. n
