Welding innovations in Essen

The latest Fronius MIG / MAG manual welding system will be presented for the first time at the Schweissen and Schneiden trade fair in Essen, Germany, from 15-19 September 2025.
“ Once again, the stars of the show at our spacious exhibition stand at Schweissen and Schneiden in Essen will be our widely diverse high-end welding solutions. The highlights will be the global premiere of our manual, next-level, MIG / MAG welding system, as well as revolutionary support for manual welders,” commented Harald Scherleitner, CSO, Fronius International.
“ We have a solution for every welding challenge from efficient robot and cobot applications to customised automation systems. We are also celebrating 20 years of unique precision with CMT!” he explained.
“ In keeping with the motto of this year’ s trade fair‘ Join the future’, we will be focusing on major drivers in welding technology. Quality requirements are rising across all industries, but the necessary welding specialists are few and far between. We are therefore combining the advantages of digitalisation with ease of use, so that every welder can consistently achieve the best welding results. This also means health and safety— which is why a variety of protective products including fume extraction systems and fume extraction torches, innovative helmets and ergonomic torch solutions will be seen live in action at the trade fair,” added Fronius.
Economy, ecology and automation
Resource efficiency is also highly important from an economic and sustainability perspective, especially when it comes to filler metals, gas and energy. It is essential to avoid production errors and time-consuming rework. At the trade fair in Essen, Fronius specialists will explain how computer-guided, step-by-step instructions, easy access to digitalisation in general and digital welding monitoring including data analysis can prove particularly useful in saving time, money and materials.
Mechanised and automated welding solutions from Fronius are designed to address a range of individual challenges, from batch sizes of one unit to full series production. A large robot cell and several smaller welding cells will highlight the wide variety of products on display at the manufacturer’ s exhibition stand.
Cold Metal Transfer, or CMT, has its 20th anniversary this year.

Collaborating systems, smart sensor technology, offline programming( including welding simulation) and more allow metalworking companies to tap into opportunities, with solutions catering to major corporations as well as small and medium-sized enterprises.
“ Trade fair visitors will see mechanised welding with the iWave and Dynamic Wire in action, alongside the WireSense-2.0 technology, the Pathfinder and seamless interaction between welding machine, robot and digital solutions,” added Fronius.
20 years of CMT
CMT( Cold Metal Transfer), the precise, comparatively cool and almost entirely spatter-free MIG / MAG welding process from Fronius, is celebrating its 20th birthday. The process delivers high welding speed for joints made from standard materials and
special materials with material thicknesses from 0.3mm. Fronius will be presenting application areas for the new 3D-optimised CMT Additive Pro characteristic for the iWave to trade fair visitors at Essen.
The Fronius stand will also offer virtual welding with the Welducation Simulator. Visitors will also be able to try out the new MIG / MAG trade fair technology. Speakers from the company will offer welding advice on hot topics.
“ One thing that’ s particularly close to our hearts is reducing the carbon footprint produced during welding, while we also focus heavily on various ways in which our customers can use gas, electricity and filler metal efficiently and economically,” explained Jürgen Bruckner, Segment Development, Fronius International.“ We’ ve carried out a life cycle analysis( LCA) and gained fundamental insights, which we’ re keen to share with our customers so that we can work with them to minimize the carbon footprint that comes from their production or their manufactured components.”
