BENTELER CliMore ® brand
In September 2023 , BENTELER ’ s Steel / Tube Division presented its new CliMore ® product brand to the public . It covers all CO₂-reduced steels and steel tube products in the division and categorises them into three sustainability categories : Advantage , Ambition and Excellence . These indicate how the steel is produced and which energy sources were used for it . “ In each of the three levels , lowemission steel is produced from scrap using the electric arc furnace . This recycling alone saves up to 75 % of CO₂ emissions when compared to new steel produced from iron ore in the classic blast furnace route ,” explained BENTELER .
“ For the Ambition level , green electricity is used in the tube mills and for the operation of the electric arc furnace . This results in a reduction of up to 85 % in CO₂ emissions . In addition , the highest level , Excellence , will focus in future on electrification of the plants or use of green hydrogen as an energy source for process energy in the production of steel and its processing into tubes ,” concluded BENTELER .
CliMore family products are available as tube solutions directly from BENTELER Steel / Tube and through the company ’ s steel trading partners . according to load factors also contributes to a significant reduction in weight , a topic that is on the long-term agenda at BENTELER Steel / Tube where investigations are carried out on an ongoing basis .
“ Our Steel / Tube Division also once again achieved a high level of profitability . Our North American business was affected by the ongoing exceptional economic situation in the first quarter and a subsequent normalisation of demand and price levels . As expected , it was unable to repeat the results of the previous year . Nevertheless , we coped well with the fluctuations by flexibly adjusting our capacities . Our European steel tube business , on the other hand , exceeded the previous year ’ s very good result despite falling demand and also posted a record year ,” confirmed BENTELER in its latest Annual Report .
