Yamazaki Mazak opens new European Technology Centre Laser in Milan

Yamazaki Mazak opened new headquarters for its European Laser Business in Milan , Italy , and hosted an Open House event for its European Technology Centre ( ETC ) Laser on 26-28 May 2022 .
Established more than a century ago in Japan , Yamazaki Mazak is a global specialist in laser-cutting equipment . Over its long history , the company has set up ten production plants and multiple sales subsidiaries worldwide , with 14 of them in Europe .
“ The rising importance of our European subsidiaries , as well as new developments in laser-cutting technology , has ultimately led to the creation of a dedicated site , our new European Technology Centre ( ETC ) Laser alongside the Italian subsidiary , in Cerro Maggiore near Milan ,” Mazak explained .
The new facility features a large showroom where a selection of the company ’ s flagship laser-cutting machines were in operation and a Clean Room , for maintenance operations on optical components ( such as cutting heads and other technological solutions related to laser-cutting machines ). The showroom also includes a nitrogen generator that , with a gas mixer , enables Mazak ’ s engineers to develop new cutting technologies and processes . A CAD \ CAM corner demonstrated Mazak software technology .
“ Customers are able to enjoy multiple events and open days to better understand our technologies . This ample floor space hosts a complete line-up of machinery to enhance technical training courses with hands-on experience ,” added Mazak .
Mazak laser-cutting machine users also benefited from access to its European Parts Centre in Leuven , Belgium . Able to process 20,000 parts per month , 365 days per year , the warehouse can reportedly deliver 97 % of the spare parts for all Mazak machines within 24 hours across Europe .
Inaugurating the ETC Laser
Yamazaki Mazak opened a new European Technology Centre ( ETC ) Laser in Milan , Italy , in May .
During the exclusive three-day Open House event , customers saw an extensive selection of Mazak ’ s laser-cutting machine range under one roof .
Two new machines were the stars of the show : the OPTIPLEX 3015 NEO S-15 and the FG-220 , with fibre technology . The OPTIPLEX 3015 NEO S-15 , a 2D fibre laser-cutting machine , features innovative Beam Shaping Mode technology for enhanced control of beam shape and diameter . It features a new MCT3 cutting head and new MAZATROL Smooth Lx CNC control system . Large front and side access doors , an adjustable control panel and easy accessibility to the workpiece make it suitable for versatile operations .
“ The FG-220 is our latest fibre laser machine for round , square , rectangular and open profile ( I , L , and H ) structural material cutting . Integrating multiple production processes into one single machine means reduced set-up time , reduced lead time , fewer operators and reduced floor space requirements ,” Mazak told ISMR .
Four independent rotating chucks prevent the material from distorting , for precision even when working with complex contours .
The OPTIPLEX 3015 NEXUS FIBER 6kW and the OPTIPLEX 3015 FIBER III 10kW with CST Automation technology were also on display . As well as a suite of laser solutions , visitors to the new ETC Laser also saw models from the INTEGREX range of multi-tasking machines , as well as the new VARIAXIS C-600 simultaneous 5-axis vertical machining centre and QTE-200M entry-level turning centre .
Gaetano Lo Guzzo , Director Laser Business Europe , Yamazaki Mazak , commented : “ Mazak has a rich heritage in
