New acquisition for The Bradbury Group
The Bradbury Group , a global specialist in the design and manufacture of roll-forming and coil-processing equipment , has acquired the assets of Press Room Equipment Co ., a provider of press-feed and coil-handling equipment based in Springfield , MO ( USA ). Press Room Equipment Co . ( PRE ) has over four decades of experience designing and manufacturing equipment for the metalstamping and fabrication industries . The company offers a wide range of products including stock reels ; pallet decoilers ; straighteners ; coil upenders ; press feed systems ; high-speed precision servo feeds and automated processing lines . In addition to the PRE brand , the acquisition includes the Norwalk and Waddington Electronic brands .
This acquisition marks a significant step in the longstanding collaborative relationship between The Bradbury Group and PRE , with PRE supplying equipment for Bradbury ’ s roll-forming lines for several decades . This new phase is expected to enhance

Lionweld Kennedy secures double award win
A UK manufacturer , fabricator and installer of access products , Teesside-based Lionweld Kennedy , has secured two prestigious award wins at the Make UK Manufacturing Awards . Winner of both the ‘ Manufacturer of the Region ’ and the prestigious ‘ Energy and Sustainability Awards for the North East , Yorkshire and Humber ,’ it will now go forward to the National Make UK Awards to be held at St Paul ’ s Cathedral in London at the end of January 2024 .
Formed in 1910 , Lionweld Kennedy designs , manufactures and installs steel and Glass Reinforced Plastic ( GRP ) flooring ; handrails ; stair treads and access solutions to a range of industries including data centres ; energy ; construction ; rail ; utilities and mining . The business is headquartered in Middlesbrough , where it was originally formed , and is part of Hill and Smith PLC .

The sustainability outcomes recognised by the judges , and which contributed to Lionweld ’ s award win , included :
■ The company ’ s installation of 650 solar panels at its Middlesbrough manufacturing facility .
■ The switch to a fleet of fully electric forklift trucks .
■ The move to a factory heated solely by Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil ( HVO ).
■ The switch to a 100 % green electricity tariff .
■ The rationalisation of product range .
■ The introduction of a remote energy monitoring system identifying in realtime areas of energy waste combined with traceability software to ensure robustness of data .
These measures have seen the Lionweld Kennedy business , in one year , reduce its total annual carbon impact from 667 tonnes of CO₂ in 2021 to 150 tonnes of CO₂ in 2022 . It forecasted a carbon impact of under 100 tonnes of CO₂ in 2023 .
The business will now compete with other regional winners in London for the National Energy and Sustainability title . n
