This also applies to slitting lines that cut raw strip wound on coils into strip with the desired widths . The thickness of the raw strip is brought to the required dimension in the rolling mill .
In the factory , an older slitting line had to be replaced because it could no longer meet growing demands for quality , accuracy and flexibility . The focus is on special high-quality strip of exact dimensional accuracy .
“ The highest priority is burr-free cutting and tolerance accuracy ,” clarified Dr . Staubwasser .
“ High dimensional accuracy ; cutter shafts with the highest concentricity ; a high degree of synchronisation of the drive and precise clamping of the individual plant components are required ,” added Bernd Kasprowicz . Under no circumstances , he added , should the strip bend .
Making the decision
After an extensive evaluation round , the construction contract for the new equipment was awarded to Burghardt + Schmidt GmbH . Dr . Staubwasser explained why .
“ We have been working with Burghardt + Schmidt for around 20 years and have purchased a lot of equipment from them that has proved to be very reliable over many years of production operation . In addition , out of all the suppliers that we contacted , Burghardt + Schmidt GmbH met our expectations the most .”
Bernd Kasprowicz added : “ We see Burghardt + Schmidt as a qualified supplier of slitting lines that meet our high-quality standards for zinc strip .”
Only through close cooperation with a customer can a project like this be brought to a successful conclusion because there is no standard for precision slitting lines .
