“ Four of these lines are already in production and the fifth will be in production shortly, as it is currently in the testing and fine-tuning phase,” confirmed Fagor Arrasate.
An eye on steel
Ternium is the largest steel producer in Latin America and the fifth largest on the continent, with an annual production capacity of 12.5- million tonnes. It is a leading producer of steel and steel products in Latin America.
The company has 18 production centres in Argentina; Brazil; Colombia; the United States; Guatemala and Mexico, 20,000 employees and an annual production capacity of 12.5 million tonnes. It is the largest exporter of finished products in the Americas.
Ternium also has highly integrated production processes, ranging from the extraction of iron ore in its own mines to the manufacture of a wide range of high value-added products for demanding industries. These include semi-finished products, flat products, long products, formed products, tubes and profiles.
Mexico in the spotlight
Fagor Arrasate is a specialist in the design and manufacture of customised solutions for steel, aluminium and stainless-steel forming( from presses and stamping systems, cutting and processing lines for metal coils and complete systems for the manufacture of complex metal parts. It also specialises in the forming of composites, hot and cold forging systems and hot stamping.
This latest contract from Ternium is in addition to others that Fagor Arrasate has won from customers in steel, aluminium and domestic appliance sectors. Fagor Arrasate is consolidating its position in Mexico, which supplies 12 % of its turnover.

in general, has been strengthened since the opening in 2017 of a plant in the city of Querétaro, aimed at offering a closer and more personalised service and attention to customers in the country and neighbouring territories,” it explained.
“ In Mexico, we have an assembly plant with a crane that occupies 550 square metres of floor space. Our own highly qualified personnel operate in assembly, programming, project management and after-sales service,” continued Fagor Arrasate.
“ In June 2023, we organised an open house at our Querétaro plant which was a great success. More than 30 people representing 11 companies with industrial plants in the country participated. Tier 1s from the automotive sector and OEMs from the home appliance sector honoured us with their presence,”
outlined Iker Garmendia, manager of Fagor Arrasate Mexico.
“ We [ demonstrated ] the capacity of our Querétaro plant not only as a local support point for customers in the region, but also as a production centre, both for new machines and retrofits. We also exhibited our innovations in transfer automation, 3D vision quality control systems and robotic stacking, which generated great interest,” he added.
Attendees were also able to see a CNCS- 6 transfer and the CL destacker for a 2000T transfer press that were being assembled in Querétaro.
A global presence
Fagor Arrasate operates globally. Its main clients include key manufacturers in the automotive sector such as the Volkswagen Group, General Motors, Ford and Stellantis. It also works with strategic suppliers in this sector such as Gestamp and CIE and companies in the steel sector( such as
Tata, Arcelor Mittal, Acerinox, Gonvarri and Bamesa). Its clients in the household appliance sector include Bosch-Siemens, Whirlpool, Mabe, General Electric and Haier.
