country life
a complete guide to
A Successful year in
the show ring
Matt Legge’s “Duxmore”
flock of pedigree Suffolk
sheep added more silverware
to their trophy cabinet with
three major titles to end their
showing season. One ewe,
Duxmore L11, picked up the
show championship and the
Isle of Wight County Show
before travelling to the New
Forest and Hampshire Show
to win the breed and best
sheep in show on the Last
Tuesday in July. It didn’t stop
there as the same sheep also
travelled to the Gillingham
and Shaftesbury Show, in
mid August, where she again
won the breed championship
before picking up the
Supreme Championship
for the best in show. Matt
is very proud of this ewe
which is out of one of his
home bred sheep and by
Paddy Marghams Stockton
Wight Gold ram. Duxmore
L11 has now joined the
main breeding flock and it is
hoped that she will become
a mum for the first time in
2011 and will hopefully pass
on some of the winning
genes.
