Creating a Comprehensive Treatment Plan Using the Latest Advancements in Aesthetics | by Linda Pitt
injectables ). For instance , the most frequent post-procedure query I get is “ when can I work out following this treatment ?” The answer to this will always depend on what treatment will be administered . However , if the post-care instructions advise against exposure to heat , steam , or saunas , this would also imply that strenuous activity should be avoided as well ( heat and sweating ). I reassure patients that if exercise is unavoidable , it likely won ’ t affect the procedure ’ s results ; it will only make them uncomfortable .

Developing an appropriate treatment plan will inform your patients of the best options for them .

Post-Treatment Expectations
You should always share with the patient the most frequent side effects that could occur , such as possible redness , swelling , bruising , etc . These are temporary and resolve pretty quickly . Patients should also be aware that some treatments may involve more “ downtime ” than others , so they should plan accordingly .
Recommended Skincare Products
Medical grade skincare products used in a comprehensive regimen will enhance and help maintain results of in-office procedures . Personally , I like to pre-treat my patient ’ s skin with products for a minimum of 7 to 10 days , and up to 30 days prior to the procedure , if possible . This will help to prepare the skin and improve its overall condition . Healthier , hydrated skin responds better to treatments than dehydrated or compromised skin . For instance , when treating melasma or photodamage I will recommend products with the knowledge that we want to “ turn off ” those melanin producing cells prior to treatment . Pre- and post-treatment sun protection is essential ; we don ’ t want to treat skin that is already tanned or burnt .
I take just as much time and consideration when deciding which skincare products to recommend to my patients as I do when deciding which treatments to perform . I take the time to research and carefully choose the product lines we use in our clinic based on data from studies as well as every other resource that is available to me .
I have been using the iS Clinical line of products since 2005 . I was first drawn to the line because of the science and the fact that they used pharmaceutical-grade ingredients . Because of my background as a skincare expert , I was able to read the list of ingredients and determine if I was providing my patients with a high-quality skincare product that was likely to lead to desired results .
The following is an example of my recommendations pre- and post-treatment using iS Clinical products :
