Creating a Comprehensive Treatment Plan Using the Latest Advancements in Aesthetics | by Linda Pitt
Aesthetics , or at least quality aesthetics , are not inexpensive . decided based on the skills you have in your own “ toolbox ” and what the best method will be for the individual patient you are working with . It may be surprising to you that cost isn ’ t always the deciding factor when someone is deciding on a procedure . With such busy lives and our society ’ s presence on social media , “ social downtime ” is often the biggest concern . Minimal to no downtime is different from social downtime ; you must consider this when recommending treatments . Always discuss this with your patients when explaining the treatments that you are recommending for them . Post-treatment downtime is often accompanied by a little erythema and swelling and / or peeling for a few days . Is this something your patient can manage ?
Once you ’ ve chosen the appropriate course of action , it ’ s time to create your treatment strategy , which should include the following :

Every treatment comes with its own set of restrictions and vary accordingly in terms of timeline .

Procedure ( s )
Establish why you think the procedure chosen is the best option for the patient and what it will do for them . How will it address their concerns ? You should be ready to respond to those types of questions in detail . Procedures and treatments are why patients come to consult with you , as this is what will help them achieve beautiful cosmetic results . There is no one procedure-fits-all and results can sometimes be achieved in a number of different ways and with various devices . The best course of action will depend upon established answers as discussed previously , i . e ., expectations , timeline , skin sensitivities etc .
For instance , there are numerous ways to address photodamage and pigmentation . In order to determine which option is ideal for the patient , I also consider other aspects , such as vascularity or redness . In fact , these would lead me to choose a light therapy procedure over a chemical peel . The laser will treat both the brown and the vascularity . Other times , I will first decide to use a chemical peel to remove the pigmentation , and then use a laser to address the vascularity . Choosing the appropriate tool for the job is a vital aspect of being a qualified skincare professional .
Number of Treatments
The best results come from a succession of noninvasive procedures , which are typically cumulative . You should establish this expectation right away , so the patient is aware of the level of commitment required .
Appointment Length
The appointment length should include any pre-treatment preparation , such as photos , consent forms , and numbing time needed . It should also include time for the patient to ask additional questions and voice concerns regarding the treatment they are about to receive .
