Here in Australia , we have just made the transition from winter to spring *. As you may know , most of the east coast of Australia has been in mandatory Covid lockdown for the entire winter season . This has meant a lot of time at home for many Australians . We have seen an exponential rise in skin conditions , but the main concern has been dry skin .

Due to the immense size of the country , Australia has several different climate zones . The northern section of Australia has a more tropical climate , hot and humid in the summer and quite warm and dry in the winter ; The southern parts are more temperate with mild summers and cool , sometimes rainy winters .

The majority of our iS Clinical Partners are in the southern parts of Australia , and , as such , they have had a copious number of clients needing their expertise in addressing dry skin .
Let ’ s just start at the beginning and define what exactly constitutes dry skin . The scientific term for healthy skin is eudermic . Characteristics of normal or eudermic skin include a regular texture , no or few imperfections , and a soft appearance . Healthy skin does not require special care . So how can we identify dry skin ? Dry skin is typically dull and may become rough , flaky , or even scaly . It often feels tight or less elastic and may be prone to showing more visible lines .
