Periorbital hyperpigmentation is commonly referred to as dark under-eye circles or discoloration under the eyes as well as the eyelids . It is a condition that affects both men and women of all skin colour and age , though it is more predominant in darker skin types .
The skin under the eyes is the thinnest and most delicate area . The dermis / epidermis in this area has far less oil glands and is ultra-susceptible to dark circles .
