The final stage on the Sunday was a 30 point night
navigation stage in which competitors received
a list of 30 GPS points and travel the dunes
collecting each point.
On a typically cold Esperance night, and with day
two‘s racing complete, competitors camped the
night in the Sand Dunes while Marshals went back
to Headquarters. The fire was lit and spirits were
still high. But it was still early days...
Eastern States competitors, Coops and Hummer
(car #33), were the only team to find mud on a
sand dune stage. They had to be recovered when
they failed to return within the 3 hour DNF time.
