Warm and inviting lobby, practice rooms, classrooms,
uniform and instrument storage, set-building space,
risers for chorus students - it’s all there.
On Tuesday April 10th, South Iredell High School
students, staff, elected officials and community
gathered for a similar event when the ribbon was
cut on their own Performing Arts Center. Jill Parker,
director of bands for South Iredell High, spoke to the
assembled audience to express her gratitude for the
facility that her students would now occupy. Theater
instructor Kendris Quick, and chorus and orchestra
instructor Stephanie Sendlewski were instrumental
in the morning’s festivities as their students sang
and performed scenes from “Beauty and the Beast”.
Fine Arts students at North Iredell High School
and South Iredell High School will be able to fully
experience their studies as they now occupy state
of the art facilities that will enable them to showcase
their talents to the fullest.
Both facilities were funded through the
successful passage of the 2014 bond initiative.
Many thanks to the Iredell County community for
their support of our schools.
Making someone’s dreams come true… Can you imagine? Dream On 3 bring sports dreams to life for
qualified children by creating personal experiences with their favorite athletes, sporting event, or sports team.
Once a Dream recipient is selected, all the details and arrangements for Dreams are handled by DO3 staff
and volunteers.
When the opportunity presented itself to have a Dream On 3 experience at West Iredell High School,
the administrators, almost in unison, came up with the same name… “TYLER”. Tyler, a student at West,
apparently only needs one name to identify himself, like Cher or Pink or Madonna. On August 31st, the Dream
On 3 staff met with West Iredell High School staff and the planning began. The amazing group of student
volunteers and a staff advisor began their work and this entire thing was kept a secret from Tyler. Fundraisers
were held, money was raised, but that was secondary to Dream On 3 staff. As they told us from the beginning,
“If you raise one dollar or one million, this child’s dream event will come true. We will make it happen.”
It is no secret that Tyler is a huge NASCAR fan. When we all found out after the first of the year that the
plan was to unveil the Dream on February 15th, we surmised Daytona 500. Everyone gathered in West’s
gym at West on February 15th at 10AM. The entire student body was there. Dream On 3 staff, reporters, and
many others were in the building. Tyler entered the building to find hundreds of his friends had come together
to celebrate his send-off, which was still a secret kept from him. A limo was waiting to shuttle him off to the
Statesville Airport where he and his family boarded a private jet to Daytona.
After a fabulous star-filled weekend of racing, fabulous accommodations and experiences, Tyler and his family
returned home, filled with the memories of a once in a lifetime dream come true. Dream On 3 made it happen.
