If, like me, you’re a child of the 60’s, or even a child of the 70’s or 80’s, then you’re probably
not a huge fan of auto-tune, overdubs, backing tracks, and EDM. Way back then, we
rocked out to the good stuff--like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and Van Halen. We grew up
before cell phones, social media…and back when MTV actually played music. The only
way we could download music for free back then was wait until your favorite song came
on the radio and hit the “record” button on your boom box at the perfect moment or you
could order 12 cassettes for a penny from Columbia House. Back then, Rock music was
made the honest way--no high tech laptops with digital recording software and no autotune! Today, everybody’s a “rock star”, just like everyone with an iPhone is a
“photographer” and everyone with a keyboard is a “critic”. Just about anybody can record
a Rock “album” in the comfort of their own bedroom, start their own YouTube channel,
make a Facebook page, post selfies on Instagram and even get your music out to their
“fans” on Soundcloud, iTunes and ReverbNation. At some point the emphasis on
becoming a rock star became more about the social media following and less about the
quality of the actual music.
Everyone wants instant
gratification and instant stardom
from their instant so-called
“music”.
Thankfully there are still
hardworking musicians out there
that create great music for the
sake of creating great music. If
you’re a fan of true 70’s Rock ‘n’
Roll oozing with swagger and
attitude, RED SKY MARY is your
band.
This four piece band from the
seacoast area of New Hampshire
plays with the swagger and grit of
some of the biggest and oldest
bad-ass names in rock. They’re a
combination of Led Zeppelin,
AC/DC, Aerosmith and Black
Sabbath. This is pure ROCK--no
auto-tune, no overdubs and
backing tracks--just pure, hardhitting, in-your-face Rock ‘n’ Roll!
Still with me? Great! Let’s meet
your new favorite band:
