JP: Southern-fried Rock in the Bronx…I like that. O&M: Yeah, how about that? It was a big culture shock when we got there. I’ve never seen so many people in such a big hurry to go to the same place in all of my life. Cars, horns blowing… JP: Do you know how many views your new video for “Hey Y’all” has? O&M: We just looked that up and it was like 32,000. JP: That’s pretty amazing for about a week isn’t it? O&M: It is. We’re pretty dag gone excited. We’re very, very pleased. JP: What do you attribute that to? O&M: I think we have to attribute that to Vic--between him and my brother Beau--who wrote the song and Vic tweaked it. I’d like to think he got us the sound we needed to get. Vic was like the fifth member of the band. He really was. He helped us get the sound and it really didn’t take much conversation. We really owe him a lot for his patience and his vision with that. He was absolutely spectacular working with us. He said he never worked with anyone that sounded like us, a band like us. He said, “I’m not sure if you guys are Rock. I’m not sure if you guys are Country. I’m not sure if you’re Southern Rock; but you’re somewhere in that vein and I wanna be the one to work with you guys.” JP: I have listened and listened and I can’t figure it out. O&M: Where we’re from, Indianapolis, it has a big Dance Club scene. It’s always had an underground Punk scene here, always. There is also a big Metal scene here. The thing we wanted to do was stay as far away from those things as possible. There is something really, really cool; there is something really special when we get together and play. There’s a lot more to come. What you heard was only the tip of the iceberg. It really is. We have a lot more stuff we’re looking to bring out. JP: Talking about chemistry…bands that are around long enough go through lineup changes. What makes this THE lineup for Outlaws & Moonshine? O&M: I think because we’ve known each other for so long. When we come together as Outlaws & Moonshine, we know where that space is that each of us needs, if that makes sense. Plus, there is zero ego. What we have is very, very honest and we are all working towards the same goal. JP: Beau does most of the writing? O&M: What I bring is the skeleton of the song and everybody else fills it in. That’s how I look at the writing part.
