CARISSA (Bass/Vocals): Carissa has been playing since an early age where her dad was in a Rock band with
regional success. It certainly was a challenge learning Leaving Eden's melodic/unique bass lines--much
different from the norm as she has said, but she certainly took the bull by the horns. To see a "chick" play
like Carissa is very surprising--you just don't see that too often. Carissa also writes music and Leaving Eden
will be incorporating her songs on the next record.
JAMIE HARKINS (Drums): Jamie also has been playing since a young age, and is full of overwhelming energy.
He was one of the original members of Leaving Eden. Jamie doesn't follow a rulebook when it comes to
drums, he adds such a flavor that is unique. With backgrounds in Punk, Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, Jamie
provides the foundation--the backbone--to Leaving Eden's music.
Knowing that the readers of ION Indie Magazine would appreciate hearing the “411” on this standout band,
Eric graciously agreed to answer some questions regarding “all things leaving Eden”…
FRM: Tell me about the name "Leaving Eden"--is there a Biblical reference?
EG: Leaving Eden does have a biblical reference--We figure this place, (Earth) is and was the Garden of Eden,
and now it's corrupt, full of deceit, death and evil, so simply put, we are "getting out". Thus, in a figure of
speech, "Leaving Eden".
FRM: When you write your music, do the lyrics come first or the melody? From where do you draw your
inspiration?
