Kokomo was brought back to life in 2014 when Sue Martin, whose partner is the guitarist in the band, asked if they would be interested in reforming the group. Sue’ s suggestion was met with a resounding“ Yes!” Since then, they have been“ getting their funk on” throughout the UK to an audience of old and new fans, spreading the word that“ da funk” is still alive and kicking – as the crowd on Friday evening found out.
At a small village hall in Sussex, the band entertained a sizable crowd with a 13-song set list, along with a selection of 4 songs from their large back catalogue to answer the enthusiastic call for“ Encore!” It was a magical evening of scintillating sound served up by these grand masters of soul, contributing to the“ funktification” of all within earshot. With 3 lead singers at the helm of the mothership, and each having their moment in the evening sun of the stage lights … they strutted their stuff in“ funktastic” vocal form.
Needless to say, all left the building totally“ funked up”!
