make a comeback with a ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ remix. Trust me—we all gave him
up years ago.”
“And let’s keep ‘Holding Back the Years’ on Simply Red. But I’m telling you…Boy George
rocked it. I was impressed.”
“So what are you saying? Should we or shouldn’t we give these one hit wonders a
second chance?” I asked…as my email alert was pinging like a Good Humor truck on
first day of summer break.
“That’s just it. I don’t think we ever need to hear from Air Supply again, but then again, I
would have said the same about Boy George. The thing is--the guy can sing.”
“So could Alannah Myles.”
“Who?”
“She had a hit in 1990 with ‘Black Velvet’ and then was never heard from again.”
“That’s probably a good thing.”
“I don’t know--she had a rocking good voice. So who’s on your list?”
“That’s easy…Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, The Hansons, Meat Loaf…”
“Meat Loaf? Really?”
“Yeah, turns out ‘Two Out Of Three’ is bad enough. The real question is who do we want
to hear from again?
“Ahhh huh,” I replied.
“What?” Darrell questioned.
“I didn’t say anything. I just said ‘Ahhh’.”
“Oh, I thought you wanted to start the list with Ah-Ha and have another revival of ‘Take
On Me’.”
“Not exactly. I think the list should begin with….”
