A Story Within A Story

ION Indie Magazine is a publication whose goal it is to bring our readers great music and compelling articles.
Yet every now and then, a band comes along that MOVES this Editor—not only in the musical sense, but from
an emotional one. I found such affinity with the band ALICE SWEET ALICE.
This eclectic band, although not by any means obscure, first came to my attention through my daily
ramblings on social media that I connected with ASA in a topic thread. As often is the case, my conversations
turn to music and this gives way to artists posting a video link. And it was there that my eyes—and ears—took
in the magic that is Alice Sweet Alice. The rest, as they say…is history.
And it is “history” itself that plays a major role an Alice Sweet Alice song…the poignant and moving ASA
video “MIA” is based upon a time in our nation’s past. It portrays American widow, PEGGY HARRIS, who—
still just a newlywed—received word that her husband’s plane was shot down over Normandy while flying a
mission in WWII. What ensued was a 60 year odyssey to learn what happened to the only man Peggy ever
loved, LT. BILLIE D. HARRIS, and the frustration of the misinformation and governmental red tape. If this
