What’s Going On - In the Classroom
BIOLOGY
Mr. Arnholt & Ms. Axford
Freshmen were busy in Block Biology as they completed 2 different labs in one day. In the first lab, the
eggsperiment, students investigate changes in mass caused by osmosis in different environments. They
participated in Mrs. Axfords “Biggest Loser” challenge where they tried to get their egg to lose the highest
percentage of their mass. They then participated in the cell model lab to look at how sugar and starch move
through a cell membrane.

Ms. Herrmann
Mr. Chris Keefe of Kowabunga Comics visited the Creative Writing classes
this week to talk with students about his profession and the recent
surge of interest in this form of storytelling. Mr. Keefe likened graphic
communication to poetry, explaining that “Novels are like battleships,
whereas poems are like swift little sailboats,” requiring the author to
capture the reader’s attention in a flash of precise brevity.
