Their first lab was a Barbie bungee drop to see how many rubber bands students could attach to her feet and still have her safely make a jump. Students collected their data, created scatter plots, and wrote equations to model their bungee jump data. Mr. Frensz played the didj for 6 years since he was first introduced to it as a freshman in college- and instantly fell in love with the instrument for its sound, simplicity, and general fun-factor. He thought it would be an awesome end of the year activity to get everyone to play a new instrument, stretch their minds a little bit, and develop new creative ideas and musical vocabulary. They made great strides in producing drones and making fun animal noises :). PVC is cheap and sounds fantastic, so this was an easy project to put together, and gives students a new instrument to take home and practice. Music doesn’t have to be expensive or confusing, sometimes it’s as simple as making farting noises into a tube! Click here for a short clip: https://youtu.be/mC_G0BFJQmo
