relatively small formation of people
mainly with higher than average income
levels, however the tourist profile is
continuing to grow dynamically along
with increasing household income levels.
Skill classes ranging: The main winter
skier skills vary from beginner to expert.
At the intermediate or advanced level,
some skiers or snowboarders enjoy
slopes which have a natural pattern of
trees and rocks to add interest to the
terrain. This subgroup is called the
“freeriders”.

The total number of skiers worldwide
was estimated based on both the number
of skier visits in the various countries as
well as on the national rates of
participation. The figure is currently
estimated to be around 130 million and
seems to be growing.
The Alps is internationally the most
visited ski destination, attracting most of
the inbound-skier travel. No other region
has such a high proportion of foreign
visitors.
