Project Description
During the Soviet times, Vanadzor
was known as an industrial city. Many of
its former factories are still in their
places, though their operation was
terminated long ago. Considering the
industrial history of Vanadzor and its
potential to become the center of
industrial tourism in Armenia, we
believe that this project has the
potential to become the first successful
example of reusing an old factory
building,
reconstructing
and
refurnishing it to serve a different
function.
This project aims to create a play
center with roller skating in one of the
existing and nonoperational factory
buildings in Vanadzor.
The center will offer various
entertaining games: roller-skating,
bowling, laser tag, alpinism, playground
for children etc. It will also have a small
restaurant.
Surrounded by lofty mountains and
located between Tbilisi (Georgia) and
Yerevan (Armenia), Vanadzor has a great
potential to become an easily accessible
resort city offering quality services for
affordable prices to local and
international tourists alike.
Vanadzor is the capital of Lori Marz. It
has a population of about 90.000 people
and is the third largest city in Armenia.
With its stunning landscape, green
mountains and mild weather, Vanadzor
has already become a lovely summer
destination, where tourists have a chance
to stroll around and enjoy nice weather,
organize picnics with family and friends,
have a great time in pubs and cafes and
admire beautiful nature. Still, the full
potential of Vanadzor city hasn’t been
realized yet: it can offer much more in
terms of diversifying its services,
improving service quality, as well as
becoming an exceptionally attractive
winter destination.
