CROPS

MAJOR CROPS
These are pictures of soybeans ( top one ), cotton ( second one ), and corn ( bottom one ). These are very important crops when it comes to genetically engineered food since these are the most grown genetically modified crops on the market . If you can find a unaltered soybean or soybean product n a store it would be amazing .
There are not many studies on the environmental impacts of genetically altered food .
The critical topic of the environmental impacts of genetically modified food has been discussed and debated for a long time now . There still is no conclusion to the debate or extremely strong evidence proving or disproving either side the debate .
In ways there are good and bad parts of genetic engineering but how will I affect our future planet and us .
Well since there is not a substantial amount of information that is dependable so it is hard to find a place to start . But it would be fair to say that genetic engineering may cause some serious changes .
How they edit the DNA .
Scientist are worried about a new string of insects “ super bugs .” These super bugs will be resistant to insecticides a problem caused by plants that produce their own pesticides that are meant to kill that insects . That there is also a potential for “ super weeds ” caused by the cross pollination of herbicide resistant crops and
normal weeds . Eventually the weeds will start to pass down the trait making round up a thing of the past .
Besides plants and animals this can happen with other things too . Scientist will eventually be able to genetically engineer humans also to create designer babies . They called also find a cure for cancer and genetic defects . Which would very much help benefit society . Also it would allow us to grow body parts and possible replace some surgeries .
Back to the plants though . Through genetic engineering you can actually make plants healthier . Create a super fruit / vegetable
