Though, GM foods help, they can also be dangerous to humans and the environment. The foods are altered to last longer, and be immune to insects so pesticides do not have to be used. And because they are immune to some insects, the people fear a whole new breed of bugs or weeds will form and become accustomed to the GM foods.
For example, by changing around the genes, you could take a gene from a peanut and insert it into a food eaten by a child / person. But what you may not know is if that person had a peanut allergy, causing him / her to have a serious allergic reaction to that food. Today, many of these foods are labeled for the consumer’ s safety.
