The Over-all Picture
7.67 children per mother. Africa, the most growing population on earth, needs birth control pills to be more available.
Birth control pills
Birth control pills are mainly not available around the world because much of the world’ s population still lives in poverty, particularly in the developing nations where population growth is most rapid. Latin America and Africa have experienced very high growth rates. Both of these locations
contain some of the poorest humans on earth. Experts predicted that we are at the current growth rate of 77 million new people a year. According to mathematics, that is a rate of a billion new people every twelve or so years. Yet, this prediction is partly incorrect because birth rates have been lowering on an average world wide scale. But the birth rates of poor nations aren’ t lowering.
Africa: very high in Birth Rates
Africa, the fastestgrowing continent, was around a rate of 45 infants per 1,000 populations in
1990. African women can’ t afford pregnancy medication, giving them very high birth rates. Niger holds the world record for birth rates, each mother in Niger averages to give birth to 7.67 children. The rising life expectancies with these high birth rates in Africa would not be good; by 2050, the number of people living over the age of 65 would triple.
