June 26th 2015. That date is now history in America; that date now defines the moment of time where individuals’ civil rights won over the hatred, ignorance and bigotry. The day where couples we’re embracing and screaming the two words that everyone in support of the Queer community wanted to say: “We won”. We won because no longer will it be a question of whether two human beings in love can devote their lives to each other in their state. We won because now queer couples together for years can be with each other on their deathbeds. We won because now couples are entitled to the health care benefits of their spouses.

We won because now queer couples together for years can be with each other on their deathbeds. We won because now couples are entitled to the health care benefits of their spouses. We won because now couples can adopt children and give them loving and amazing homes without any additional hassle or constraints simply because they are a gay couple. The legal ramifications are exciting, and beautiful for the LGBTQ+ community but the social ramifications cannot be ignored. The beauty that comes through when gay marriage is legal is seen throughout all of society regardless of sexual orientation or gender identification.
