Hall had been shopping at Pro-
duce Distributors for a couple of
years. When she heard the discount
market was closing due to illness
in the owner’s family, Hall’s first
reaction was sadness but then she
began to look at the building as
something the trio might want to
purchase for a business venture
they had been considering. On what
was supposed to be the market’s
next to last day, a Friday, Hall was
able to talk to the owner while she
stocked up.
“I got a little emotional,” she re-
called, telling him that the commu-
nity needed a place like this. When
she told him of the plans she had
with her friends, she stressed that
she would leave the market open.
The owner liked those plans and
priced the building to her, though
he noted that someone else was
supposed to give him an answer
about buying the building the fol-
lowing Monday.
