Letter from our President From this point, Pathways – known at the time as Hospice of Larimer County – steadily grew to serve more and more patients in need. By the early 2000s, we were ready for a new building dedicated specifically to our Pathways for Grief & Loss counseling program and successfully completed a $2.8 million capital campaign for our current location in 2005. Today, 40 years after our humble start, Pathways is the leading nonprofit provider of hospice, palliative care, and grief support services in Northern Colorado. On a yearly basis, we serve more than 1,200 hospice patients, have seen more than 1,500 palliative care visits, and have touched the lives of people throughout our bereavement programs more than 2,000 times. A Vintage Affair: Mark Your Calendars for July 27! Pathways is already looking forward to our 2018 A Vintage Affair event! This year, A Vintage Affair will be held on Friday, July 27 in the Lory Student Center Grand Ballroom at Colorado State University from 6:30-9 p.m. As always, we are immensely grateful for our presenting sponsor Wilbur’s Total Beverage for supporting Pathways. The event will gather more than 300 guests to enjoy 200 varieties of fine wines, craft brews and gourmet appetizers. The evening will also feature silent and live auctions and drawings for 99 bottles of beer and 99 bottles of wine. Be on the lookout this spring for further information and details on how to purchase tickets! Interested in participating as a sponsor? Contact Jill Maasch at [email protected] to discuss our many sponsor benefits. I am immeasurably grateful for the dedicated staff members, volunteers and donors who have allowed Pathways to spend the past four decades serving our community with compassionate care. Pathways has established ourselves as both the originators and innovators in end-of-life care in Northern Colorado, and we look forward to many more years of serving our community. Nate Lamkin, President, Pathways 2 | OR L Y S BA TUD R E T ENT CEN In 1978, Pathways was established by a small group of volunteer nurses shortly after a patient with a terminal illness requested hospice care. Initially serving just 17 patients, the organization soon expanded to include professional staff. In the mid-1980s, we got licensed by the Colorado Department of Health and became a Medicare-certified program. As many members of our community are aware, 2018 marks Pathways’ 40-year anniversary. The past four decades have seen several milestones and accomplishments that have brought us to where we are at today. Although we are only a few months into 2018, I am already confident that this year will bring much to celebrate. We have many exciting developments on the horizon that I look forward to sharing with each of you. ULY 27, 20 Y, J A D P AT H W AY S I N - T O U C H N E W S L E T T E R M A R C H 2 0 1 8
