traditional jewish Cuisine
Passover meals
Passover is a huge Spring Jewish Festival that celbrates the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery. A common food eaten on the special day would be Matzah. It's also known as the bread of affliction. This bread is also special to the Jewish community because it represents freedom and the poor fare eaten by the Jew's Egyptian ancestors. Jews are very invested in what they cook, the meaning behind it, and how it is to be prepared and eaten, etc, especially
throughout Passover. Another item special to
Jews is Charoset. Charoset is a dip which is a mixture of many different things each symbolizing something different. (1) For example, it should include wine symbolizing blood and fruits to which the Jews were compared to in the Torah. Jews were forced to create projects that involved building. Overall the importance of food on the jewish culture is amzing!
