Job Summary
The Cultural Cultivator Intern will support the Language and Culture Department in documenting cultural activities, learning teachings, and helping promote cultural knowledge throughout the community. This intern will participate in both office-based tasks and outdoor cultural experiences, contributing to the preservation and sharing of cultural teachings, skills, and traditions.
The role involves assisting with documentation, creating cultural learning tools, engaging in hands-on activities, and supporting staff in sharing knowledge with Citizens. The intern will also explore their own cultural growth while helping uplift and promote the 7 Grandfather Teachings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Document meetings, cultural crafts, and activities using digital and non-digital methods
• Assist in creating engaging cultural learning tools and educational materials
• Participate in learning cultural teachings while seeking deeper knowledge and understanding
• Help teach culturally relevant skills to others during workshops, gatherings, and activities
• Support cultural events and practices in both indoor and outdoor environments
• Assist with program preparation, event set up, materials organization, and community engagement
• Maintain respectful, culturally grounded behavior representing the Language and Culture Department
• Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Skills and Qualifications
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Power Point, Excel, Teams, Zoom, Word, and Outlook
• Skill in using photography or video equipment or willingness to learn
• Strong reading and writing abilities
• Ability to perform light physical labor including lifting, walking, and standing during events or workshops
• Comfort working outdoors in varying conditions
• Dependable, respectful, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
