Job Summary
The Intern Operator will assist in operating and maintaining the water and wastewater treatment facility within the Utilities Department. Under the guidance of the Utilities Manager and mentor staff, the intern will help ensure facility operations are safe, efficient, and compliant with established procedures and standards. This entry-level internship offers hands-on experience in utility operations, equipment maintenance, and environmental service processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Follow proper safety standards and precautions at all times
• Conduct routine maintenance checks on utility equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks as directed
• Notify mentor or Utilities Manager of equipment issues requiring additional attention or repair
• Assist with basic operational tasks within the water / wastewater treatment facility
• Keep accurate records and help prepare simple reports
• Perform other related duties as assigned
