APRIL 2019
DREAMS AND REALITY
CLE’S CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST 2019
Last semester, CLE announced its 3rd annual Creative Writing Contest. All EdUHK
students were invited to submit short pieces of creative writing of any kind, from
poems to short stories to creative essays, on the theme of “Dreams and Reality”.
After receiving 14 submissions, the International Tutors created a shortlist of pieces
that would advance to the finalist round. The 5 finalists then had a chance to work
with an International Tutor and revise their piece for the final voting round. In
March, a panel of CLE teachers consisting of Dr. Jessie Choi, Mr. Ernest Chow, and
Mr. Anson Wong convened to vote for the winning pieces. Pieces were evaluated
by adherence to the theme, originality and creativity, voice and style, and use of
language. The winners were announced, congratulated, and invited to share their
pieces as well as their writing processes and inspirations. Please find upcoming
sharing announcements on the CLE website and communication channels.
The International Tutors would like to extend special thanks to Fel Castañeda
for organizing the Creative Writing Contest, to the CLE teacher panel for
conducting the final voting round, and to every student who submitted to
the Creative Writing Contest. The ITs enjoyed reading through all the pieces
and commend every student who submitted to the contest. We encourage
everyone to continue practicing their art and expressing themselves creatively.
In collaboration with the Creative Writing Contest, the IT Magazine
would now like to present the winning pieces as well as those that received
honorable mentions. The pieces are published verbatim as they were submitted
to the final round. No corrections or further edits have been made. v
