Centre for Creative and Immersive eXtended Reality( CCIXR)
CCIXR has a full virtual production and mixed reality studio all under one roof. This unique space includes facilities for full body motion capture in real time using optical and inertial tracking solutions, as well as a photogrammetry and scanning studio, a volumetric video studio, and an extended reality studio.
Institute of Marine Sciences
A marine station with an international reputation. Students and researchers use our facilities to monitor and test marine environments and seawater. This includes looking at how humans impact marine ecosystems and how materials react to different marine environments.
Bloomberg Suite
Access the same data, analytics and software used by over a quarter of a million finance professionals globally. Students monitor and analyse real-time financial market data movements and trade virtually.
Replica courtroom
In our realistic copy of a Crown Court, students can gain the practical experience they need to start their legal career, through mooting and simulated court cases.
Professional Interpreter Training Suite
The suite immerses you in a professional environment, so you can develop the skills to work at some of the world’ s most prestigious institutions. It is the ideal setting to practise bilateral interpreting, as well as simultaneous and consecutive interpreting.
Extreme environments laboratories
These help us understand, evaluate and enhance people’ s comfort, performance and survival in extreme environments such as high altitudes, humid jungles and rough seas.
Music and sound recording studios
Our studios enable students to use high-end professional technology to get the best results from complex recording sessions and include a Dolby Atmos 7.14 surround studio, three new, purpose-built studios featuring a Neve Genesys Black G96, five SSL editing pods and high-end outboard gear including a Manley Massive Passive EQ and a Maselec Multi-Band Compressor.
Business Simulation Suite
The Business Simulation Suite is a flexible technology-enhanced learning facility. The room contains sliding partitions that can quickly transform the suite into a boardroom, a classroom, or a room for practising speech and presentation skills.
The Technology Enhanced Active Learning( TEAL) room
The TEAL room is a multi-use space in which lecturers can share their computer screen to each of the specially designed tables, which can seat a team of up to nine students. Each table is set up to encourage interactive learning and collaboration.
