Centre for Simulation in Health and Care
Spanning three buildings across campus , the simulation facilities in our centre are designed to represent current clinical equipment and healthcare environments . Students learn by applying their classroom knowledge to the practical settings – on placement and once they graduate . Simulation facilities include a hospital ward , operating theatre with a Human Patient Simulator , care home area and imaging suite , giving you valuable real-world experience .
Dental Pre-Clinical Skills Laboratory
Our laboratory takes pre-clinical skills development to the next level for our Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist courses . Each station is equipped with a dental handpiece , suction , overhead dental lamp and computer monitor . This helps students develop their periodontal , restorative and paediatric dentistry skills .
Motion capture studios
Psychology students explore human movement , looking at how body language influences our appraisal of others and affects interpersonal interactions .
Centre for Creative and Immersive eXtended Reality ( CCIXR )
Motion capture is at the core of a large proportion of the CCIXR ’ s activities . In addition to full body motion capture , the CCIXR Motion Capture Studio feature facilities for facial and hand capture ( full performance capture ), in real time , using multiple tracking solutions ( optical and inertial ) to cater to a wide range of performance capture .
