Another recent project from SIEMAG TECBERG owned Winder Controls in South Africa was the installation of a new 6 m diameter drum for a 6-rope service Koepe winder at a leading copper mine
hoist controller , conveyance and loading / unloading system plus other auxilliary equipment .
SIEMAG TECBERG-owned Winder Controls ( Pty ) Ltd in Germiston , South Africa is also a key hoist system supplier , which includes the electrical systems and electrical upgrades . It recently completed a comprehensive electrical upgrade at one of South Africa ' s premier platinum mines . The scope of supply included n Motor Armature Thyristor Converter : The control systems have been
elevated with the transition from Sigma controllers to advanced Siemens DCM controllers n PLC Equipment Revitalisation : Replaced outdated PLC equipment and overhauled the safety circuit and control panel n Driver ' s Desk Enhancement : While retaining the current drivers desk , Winder Controls installed an additional new centre panel housing a 15- inch HMI The company states : “ We have provided end-to-end service , covering the design , manufacturing , testing , loading , delivery , installation and final commissioning of the winder ' s electrical components .”
It has also completed a BMR Winder Brake Upgrade for a prominent gold mine in South Africa including a medium pressure semi-closed loop ( ESCORT ) brake control system ; power pack for optimal functionality and availability of parts ; two valve stand assemblies for precision semi-closed loop brake control ; two quick-drop ported brake engine cylinders for rapid response and adjustability ; brake engines ( spring nests ) for reliable fail-tosafe braking torque ; and clutching valves for seamless operation . It also supplied related field components to ensure a comprehensive solution plus electrical ESCORT control panels for advanced control and monitoring and mis-coiling monitoring to enhance safety measures .
With this upgrade , Winder Controls says the mine now enjoys modern , available componentry , ensuring exceptional control and reliability . “ Our unwavering commitment to innovation and safety is evident in every supplied component . Importantly , all equipment supplied is adequately rated for the winder duty as specified and complies with the Mine Health and Safety Act , South African mining regulations and required mine standards .”
