MINEXPO PREVIEW
by modern longwall operations . “ Deploying a PMC-R 2.0 electro-hydraulic control system not only enables market leading and complete autonomous control of your roof supports , but it also establishes the platform for continued autonomous control of your entire longwall mining system ,” the company says .
The PMC-R 2.0 system employs several features to protect personnel working around moving equipment . It identifies the precise location of all personnel on the longwall face at any given time , according to HBT Group . This reduces the risk from hazardous movement of the longwall machinery and improves training by identifying and logging near-miss incidents .
Using wireless technology , the PMC-R 2.0 is compatible with personnel proximity detection ( PPD ) systems . An additional wireless sensor can be integrated with the PMC-R 2.0 to enable this PPD capability , which has an in-shield reader that connects directly to the controller and detects tags worn by longwall operators . When the reader detects a person wearing the tag , the system changes the colour of the shield beacon or light . This visual indicator alerts the user that the system has identified them in that area and any automatic shield functions are inhibited to prevent personnel injury .
These are complemented by the Data Visualization tool to provide an advanced userfriendly solution for visualising and reporting data from longwall mining system . This tool allows operators to view , manage and leverage machine data , enabling informed decision making to maximise equipment productivity , life and reliability , the company says .
Explosives , blasting and ground support
For the past 150 years Orica says it has been investing in technology and innovation to deliver blasting products and solutions that are safe , best in class and ready when operations need them .
“ Our extensive global network allows us to deliver innovative solutions and exceptional services to our customers worldwide ,” it added . “ Moreover , the seamless integration of our fundamental core blasting operations with integrated end-to-end digital insights enables us to deliver optimised safety , productivity , recovery and sustainability outcomes for our customers across the entire value chain .”
Orica continues to invest in new technologies and innovative processes that allow it to minimise its carbon footprint and enhance its energy efficiency , it explained . “ In doing so , we strive to assist our customers in achieving their own sustainability goals .”
The company ’ s goal of providing sustainable solutions and technology to mobilise the earth ’ s resources will be highlighted at MINExpo with a carefully curated selection of solutions .
Attendees will be able to discover the latest mining technology with BlastIQ™ and 4D™ enabled Mobile Manufacturing Unit , while , close by at the Epiroc stand , they will be able to witness a semi-autonomous mechanised development charging setup with the Avatel™ charging system .
From Orica Digital Solutions , Orebody Intelligence with Axis Mining Technology will be highlighted to enable customers to gain accurate insights into their orebodies from the outset , leading to informed decision making throughout the value chain . OREPro 3D™ software , meanwhile , is able to predictively model blast movement without hardware or surveys .
This year Orica Digital Solutions celebrated SHOTPlus ’ ™ 35th anniversary , a solution that is approaching its next evolution as it becomes a highly performant and intelligent blast design product for surface and underground operations . The application will continue to be the centre point for drill and blast decision making , while supporting Orica Digital ’ s move into adjacent and integrated workflows , Orica says . Next Gen SHOTPlus launching at MINExpo has an optimal data management and modelling capability which will benefit Orica Digital Solutions customers greatly , it added .
Geohazard and geotechnical technologies such as GroundProbe , Measurand , 3vGeomatics , Navstar , RST instruments and Syscom Instruments will also be part of the Orica MINExpo experience .
