The woman who had ran me over, just stared me and stayed over on the side. I looked across into her eyes, they were still, without remorse, unmoveable eyes. I felt something was not right with that. Next thing I remember, was being in the ambulance heading to the hospital. They suspected I had seriously injured my spine, I began to think I would never walk again. This was my life now. After being checked over I received good news that I had only damaged some discs, torn a few muscles and had a few problems with nerve endings but all repairable and no fear of not being able to walk again. Life was going to be great, and I would survive this. I did not realise just what the next five years had in store for me. After my accident there was the period of pain. This pain lasted for five years. It was so bad at times that I just wanted to give up, I was young, I had to put my modelling career and my nursing to one side as I was just in so much pain. For me, my life was on hold and getting through this was incredibly difficult. What next I thought. I would love to give up, but I will not, I decided. I will find the information and the techniques I need to recover and recuperate. During these five years I tried many different things to no avail. I was going back and forth to Finland and Canada, and I was at the end of my rope. Somewhere, I had read about pilates and how it had helped so many to recover from staggering muscle pain. I tried some classical pilates, and I was in love. This is it, this is it, I knew I had found something. I realised it would be cheaper to learn this method than spend my money for a year in order to take classes. I did teacher training with Stott pilates in mat and reformer. The pain was gradually lowering, plus I had found an excellent acupuncturist from Japan. He never gave up on me. I had also doctors and physiotherapists on the side and we were working as a team until the money from the insurance
