Les Ba’get
Vietnamese Café

Ba’get had finally opened
up a brick and
mortar when I met
up with a friend for lunch. Holy
moly mighty great! I think my first
note in my head was that I died and
went to Saigon. This is now and forever a fixture in my lunch spot places. Started by self-taught Chef Cat
Huynh whose concept started out
as a food truck. They opened at the
beginning of this year and since then
has offered a new take on Vietnamese
cuisine in the Montrose area.
There are many items all great. But,
the one that stands apart is the 24hr.
Sous Vide Pork Belly on a baguette.
The baguette is of a closely guarded

proprietary recipe as I have been told
by a few people as well as the staff.
Either way it was the best Banh Mi
I ever had in Houston. It is the best
balance of crispy and soft. I also had
the pork belly with the croissant bun
… good but the baguette is better. If
you are feeling decadent enough get
it with a fried egg because who cares
about cholesterol! Since then I’ve had
the Lemongrass Grilled Pork and the
Grilled Beef, the Buttered Chicken!
Worth the extra calories to get Imperial Egg Rolls. Chicken & Waffle
Pandan, coconut milk Belgium waffle
and fish sauce marinated fried chicken
with green tea syrup. It was a mouthful to say and tasted even better. The
bar is an ode to supporting local with
the offerings of local craft beer as
well as Vietnamese coffee. Best news
