Spanish motorcycle registrations to July + 6.24 %
According to the latest available data from ANESDOR , the motorcycle industry association in Spain , motorcycle registrations were up by + 6.24 % for the first seven months of 2024 at 128,466 units - the best first seven months in Spain since before the 2007 / 2008 financial crisis . January , February , April and July were up by + 17.23 %, + 22.52 %, + 22.63 % and + 15.69 % respectively . Total PTW registrations YTD were + 4.70 % at 135,969 units - also the best since before 2008 . Honda was market share leader selling 29,203 units for a 22.7 % market share . This was followed by Yamaha ( 20,250 units for a 15.8 % share ), Kymco ( 6.6 % share ), BMW ( 5.8 %) and Piaggio fifth with a 5.0 % market share . The best-selling model in Spain YTD was the Yamaha NMAX 125 ( 5,020 units / 3.9 % share ), followed by the Honda PCX 125 ( 3.8 % share ), the SYM Symphony 125 ( 2.6 %), Yamaha X-Max 125 ( 2.5 %), Kymco Agility City 125 and Honda SH 125I ( both on 2.4 % market share ). The top selling larger displacement motorcycles ( above 125 cc ) in Spain YTD are the 750 cc Honda X-ADV and the ADV 350 . Electric PTWs totalled 3,125 units YTD - a 2.4 % share of the overall market ; ICE models ( 125,341 units ) still account for 97.6 % share of the total PTW market in Spain . The latest data from the German motorcycle industry association ( IVM ) show motorcycle registrations for the period to July 2024 up by + 2.85 % at 94,550 units YTD . In motorcycle unit terms that has been the best first seven months of the year in Germany since before the financial crisis of 2007-2008 and subsequent Great Recession . That said , the summer has been soft compared to the spring in Germany with registrations at + 3.00 % and -10.52 % in May and June respectively , coming back well in July at + 7.91 %. In total PTW terms the German market is running at -2.30 % for the YTD at 150,471 units , but that is still a second best ( behind 2023 ) for the first seven months of the year since before 2008 . The top selling model YTD remains the new BMW R 1300 GS with 5,606 units sold for a 5.93 % market share . This was followed by the Kawasaki Z900 ( 2.83 %), Honda CB 750 Hornet ( 2.27 %), Yamaha MT-07 ( 2.00 %) and BMW R1250GS ( 1.89 %). The Kawasaki Z650 was in sixth spot , followed by the Honda CBR 650 R ( 1.75 %), the BMW F 900 R ( 1.46 %), Honda XL 750 Transalp ( 1.29 %) and CRF 1100 Africa Twin ( 1.25 %) in 10th spot . The best-selling KTM is the 690 SMC ( 11th spot , also 1.25 % market share ). Other leading brand best sellers outside the top-10 include the Aprilia RS660 , Husqvarna 701 Supermoto , Suzuki GSX-8S , Triumph Scrambler 400 X , GASGAS SM700 , Ducati Multistrada V4 and Harley-Davidson Streetbob 114 . With eight models in the top 30 , it is no surprise that BMW is market share leader in its home market , with 19,432 units sold through to July 2024 , for a 20.55 % market share . They were followed by Honda with a 15.66 % market share ( 14,811 units ); Kawasaki ( 11.09 %/ 10,487 units ) KTM motorcycles and light vehicles in Spain YTD has now passed more than 6 million motorcycles , scooters and light vehicles , with an average unit age of around 17.4 years . For the record : 2023 saw motorcycle registrations up by + 13.44 % in Spain ( 199,210 units sold ). In displacement terms it was larger cylinder capacity motorcycles ( and therefore , typically , the most expensive models ) that were the highest growth sector in Spain in 2023 with machines over 750cc up by + 24.1 % and those between 125cc and 750cc up by + 18.2 %. Scooters continued to be the most popular single sector in Spain in 2023 with registrations up by + 14.3 % ( 110,467 units - some 55 % of sales ).

The Top-5 Electric PTW brands in Germany YTD were Kawasaki ( 192 units , 21.92 % market share ), Zero ( 168 units / 19.81 %), Vmoto ( 82 units / 9.36 %), LiveWire ( 38 units / 4.34 %) and Tinbot ( 30 units / 3.42 %). For the record : in motorcycle terms , the German market was up in 2023 at + 16.41 % ( 125,709 units ). In total PTW terms the German market was + 6.98 % at 215,501 units . The used market in Germany in 2023 saw 442,868 vehicles change hands in 2023 . The top selling motorcycle in Germany in 2023 was the BMW R 1250 GS with 7,529 units sold for a 5.99 % market share ( the Kawasaki Z900 was second , Honda CB 750 Hornet third ). BMW retained its top spot as German motorcycle market share leader with 23,978 units sold for 19.07 % market share , which marked some 4.4 % growth on their unit sales in 2022 . Honda took second spot with Kawasaki third .
