In my opinion, even though that the Catalonia educational system has change through the years, there is still a lot of work to do because in the national curriculum the education is describe in a way that in the real life is not.
However, you might think that it is just my opinion, but there are pedagogues that refute my opinion. For example, Azucena Caballero says that the main mistakes of the Spanish system is that in the pre-primary stage, there is a bad
adaptation, there are too many paper sheets to fill up and too many rules that do not allow children to act natural.
In the primary stage, there is too much memorization, homework, exams and punishments that kill the student’s creativity and curiosity for learning. In the secondary stage, students are forced to study things that they do not think is necessary and there is no space for the critical thinking.
When I think of the educational system that I want, I think of a system that takes care of the students in order to accept each student as the individual person that they are and respects their rhythm and interests.

In Catalonia, all the lessons are taught in Catalan, but we also learn Spanish as a second language at a more complex level than English. Even though, in Catalonia and Spain, we start with an early age, we are not so good at it. On the contrary, in the Netherlands, they start to teach English at an early age, but the new generations are capable of having a long and complex conversation in English.
