As Ken Robinson explains in his video, society has changed so this means that education has to change too. Education as we know right now, is not designed to educate the students. Ken Robinson says that the education that we have now was designed for the pupils in the past and that we are still using the same education, even if the society has changed in different levels such as economics or the cultural identity. Nowadays, we are living in a globalized society, so if we want to make sure to promote an education that is suitable for all kinds of students, we need to make some changes.

During the schools visits, I have seen that most of the Dutch schools promote the autonomy of the student, but they also have several projects on the school or their work with periods, instead of periods of one hour. Both options allow pupils to be more conscious of their own work and make the most of their time. I think that each school in the world should have these elements. As teachers, we have to be aware of the needs of our students and do not be afraid to innovate.

In my opinion, this change of shift needs to be done by almost all the teachers of the world. The teachers that are aware of this need have to try to spread it so more teachers are aware of it and start to take action in the matter. Then I believe that teachers need to have some sort of training in order to fully understand it and know how to apply it in their lessons.

FUTURE EDUCATION

I am talking of small changes; we need to change aspect by aspect. If we want to twist the current education upside down, we are going to fail. There are different methods that use activities or organizing methods that have been proved to work. For example, instead of divide the school schedule into lessons of one hour is better if you divide it into periods, longer than one hour and shorter than two hours. Then, students have time to plan, do and be focused on the work they are doing, rather than stop their work just because the bell is ringing. Another example is the Dr. Montessori’s method that includes the heterogeneous groups and working through projects.
